Attractions
There are many fiestas celebrated each year e.g. the Moors and Christians
fiesta reenacting the peaceful handover from Moors to the Christians
in the 13th century.
There are colorful street parades (some of which pass alongside Marina
de la Torres) involving participants, dressed in hand-made, elaborate
costumes, beating on timbales, blowing pipes or firing old-fashioned
guns in the air.
There is a wide choice of attractions to choose from including the following;
- Mini Hollywood theme park where scenes from movies such as ‘Indiana
Jones’ ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ ‘Doctor Zhivago’
and several films starring Clint Eastwood were shot.
- Alhambra Palace, one of ‘the 7 wonders of the world’,
in Granada
Old Mojacar village, a compact, picturesque hilltop settlement with
steep gradients, narrow cobbled streets and bright white Moorish-style
houses.
- Cave tours at Sorbas caves and cave paintings at Cuevas de Almanzora
The protected zone of Laguna del Rio Aguas frequented by many migrating
water birds: flamingos, herons, ducks, etc.

Eating out
Mojacar Playa beach resort has a wide choice of restaurants along its
promenade with a large number of good European and Spanish restaurants
serving plenty of fresh seafood and a variety of local dishes including
tapas. For those with international tastes there are also French, Chinese,
Cantonese, Indian and Mexican restaurants.
A short distance away in Mojacar village you’ll find a number
of restaurants, most of which serve authentic Spanish dishes, seafood
and tapas. And there are plenty of opportunities to dine ‘al fresco’.
Nightlife
Mojocar Playa has many bars and cafes along the promenade plus a limited
number of discotheques while in Mojacar village you will find authentic
Spanish bars.
Shopping
Mojacar Playa beach resort has a wide array of shops where you can chose
from souvenirs, beachwear, shoes, ceramics and quality hand crafts.
There are also a several mini-markets.
In the Parque Comercial shopping complex in the middle of Mojacar Playa
you will find, coffee shops, a supermarket, pharmacy, boutiques and
banks.
Mojacar village: offers a variety of small shops selling leather goods,
shoes, ceramics and jewellery.
Markets in villages nearby include; Garrucha, Vera and Aguilas.
